An Icon of Design and Pop Culture

The Galerie POPINCOURT invites you to discover a masterpiece of 1960s and 70s European industrial design: the FASE Model 520C table lamp, a Space Age icon designed by the Spanish master Luis Pérez de la Oliva for the prestigious Madrid-based manufacturer FASE. Celebrated for its aerodynamic and futuristic lines, the 520C has become the ultimate accessory for art directors in world cinema. Its magnetic silhouette steals the show in numerous international productions: it graces the executive desk in the dystopian series Silo, and makes notable appearances in House M.D., Ragnarok, Midsomer Murders, and the famous series Money Heist (La Casa de Papel).

Brilliant Technical and Kinematic Innovation

Beyond its memorable aesthetic, the 520C shines through its engineering. This unit is equipped with the famous FASE ball-joint system, here in perfect preserved condition and strictly without any mechanical play. This highly fluid technical innovation allows the large metal reflector to be oriented 360° and the length and reach of the light source to be adjusted instantly with a simple gesture. Exceptional ease of use that perfectly combines industrial ergonomics with cutting-edge design.

A "Museum" Configuration

This unit is intended for the most demanding collectors of Mid-century design. It stands out due to two characteristics that propel it to the rank of an archive-level piece:

Unlike the vast majority of 520C models that have their switch on the reflector, this variant integrates its original switch directly onto the power cord.

A testament to miraculous and extremely rare preservation after more than 50 years of history, it still retains its precious original plastic seal hanging from its cord, proudly displaying the iconic Lion of Castile with its mane fanned out and the FASE lettering in a chrome finish.

Clinical Condition Without Restoration

The critical point of FASE lamps almost always lies in the fragility of their diffuser. On this unit, the original glass diffuser is in spectacular condition: no cracks, no scratches, and a superb original sandblasted finish that gives it its perfect translucent appearance. This textured treatment, which has not undergone any yellowing, allows the light to be softened in a cozy and enveloping manner. The original matte anthracite gray paint, the sparkling chrome of the arm, and all electrical components are strictly original. True to its venerable age, it presents minute and poetic marks of time (slight paint imperfections) that give it that extra soul and patina of authenticity so sought after, unavailable on restored or altered models.

The View of Galerie POPINCOURT

The FASE 520C is not a mere light fixture; it is a masterful kinetic sculpture. While one sometimes encounters models of dubious preservation or re-wired units on the market, presenting a 100% original unit with its intact translucent sandblasted glass diffuser, its play-free ball-joint system, and, above all, its original chrome Castilian Lion seal belongs to the realm of high collecting. This exceptional condition makes it a major heritage piece, a lasting investment for any demanding collector or enthusiast of MID-CENTURY design.
